Search Engine Optimisation
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. Basically, its the art of getting your website to the top of the search engine charts. We say ‘Art’ because, no matter what you may have been told, there is no sure fire way of getting to the top of any given search engine.
The truth is search engines use complicated algorithms, which they don’t reveal to the public, to determine who gets to the top of their lists. The idea of keeping the algorithms a closely kept secret is to encourage website developers to concentrate on producing relevant content for their sites rather than following some step by step checklist that can get irrelevent sites to the top of the list.
We break SEO and Website marketing into two categories,
- Organic Traffic
- Pay-Per-Click
Organic Traffic:
The traffic that comes to your site through natural searchs, that is traffic that has not been paid for.
Our approach is simple. We develop your site with best practice techniques. We set up your pages to maximise your keywords pulling power and we monitor the traffic that you are getting, fine tuning the content accordingly. We do the simple things that are often overlooked by website designers such as:
- proper use of page titles, heading tags
- user friendly URLS
- valid XHTML
- relevant links
- correct key word occurrence
These steps seem pretty basic and self explanatory but they do get overlooked a lot and they are vital steps for optimising your site for search engines.
We monitor the traffic coming to the site and determine what is drawing in the crowds, what search terms are bringing up your site, what people are doing once they arrive at your site and then we fine tune the page accordingly.
Pay-Per-Click marketing campaigns:
Traffic that you pay to have google send to your site, based on pre defined keywords.
The idea behind this is that you pick a number of phrases that you want
incoming traffic to be generated from. You then pay for your site to appear at the top of the page for searchs done on your chosen keywords.
You can target the geographical areas that are relevent to your business as theres no point your business appearing in a search done in Limerick if you can only service Cork.
Once you decide to embark on a P-P-C campaign the next step is to decide on your budget, the amount you are willing to pay for your chosen keywords. The higher your budget the more traffic you will generate. The key to a successful Pay Per Click campaign lies in choosing the correct keywords that are relevant to your site, but also, that are not too expensive.
In managing your campaign we will:
- Sit down with you and help decide on the keywords that you need
- Determine the importance of these keywords and how to weight them
- Fine tune the site to highlight these keywords
- Monitor your results and adapt the campaign accordingly.
